7 Easter eggs you didn’t see in “Wicked – Part 2”

With a multitude of fans and box office records, the film’s director Jobs Men did not spare the use of references from both the first film, the musical and the books to move those who have a passion for history.

With this, the CNN Brazil separated some easter eggs that you may not have noticed during the second film, while drying your tears. Check it out:

  1. During Elphaba’s escape, after appearing at Glinda and Fiyero’s engagement, the Wicked Witch of the West hides among the forest foliage to avoid being found by Oz’s guard. This references the first time she met the prince, who made a joke saying that she could “camouflage” herself in plants because of skin color.
  2. At the end of “Thank Goodness”, Elphaba appears in the sky of the Emerald City, writing in the clouds the phrase “The Wizard lies”, which directly references the original Wicked Witch, from the film “The Wizard of Oz”, who writes in the sky while being chased by Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man, the phrase “Surrender, Dorothy”.
  3. The monkey that stands next to Madame Morrible during the song “Every Day More Wicked” wears Glinda’s jacket from the first film, which he stole during the chase that precedes the “Defying Gravity” number.
  4. As the Wizard shows Elphaba his collection of heads and eyes and mechanics, fans recognize the face of Frank Morgan, who played the Wizard in the classic 1939 film.
  5. When Boq transforms into the Tin Man, he breaks the door with an axe, in the same way that the character does in the film “The Wizard of Oz”, to try to free Dorothy.
  6. While planning how to capture Elphaba and coming up with the idea of ​​the cyclone, Madame Morrible says: “these things must be handled delicately”, the same phrase said by the Wicked Witch of the West when she is thinking about how to kill Dorothy in the original film.
  7. One of the last scenes of the witches during the second film is a clear reference to the poster for the Broadway musical of “Wicked,” the first adaptation of Gregory Maguire’s book. The moment happens like a flashback to Glinda and moved older fans.
