Filming of the new Star Wars movie is finally finished!

Shawn Levythe director of Star Wars: Starfighterannounced on his page of the social network Instagram that the principal photography of what will be the next film in the saga after The Mandalorian & Grogu are officially over.

The Deadpool & Wolverine and Stranger Things author also shared a new behind-the-scenes photo, which appears to highlight the interior of a large (probably Imperial-class) spaceship. You can see it at the bottom of the article.

In recent months, several rumors have spread about this filmwith some rumors claiming that the story will tie directly into Simon Kinberg’s new Star Wars sequel trilogy currently in the works, setting the stage for Lucasfilm’s future plans for Rey and the “New Jedi Order.” The only certain thing at the moment, by Shawn Levy’s own admission, Starfighter will have no connection with the previous Star Wars films, will tell an original story and will be set several years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

The cast is made up of Ryan Gosling, the young newcomer Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre and Amy Adams: the plot will see Ryan Gosling in the role of a former Resistance pilot who he will have to protect his nephew, who is sensitive to the Forcechased by two ruthless and mysterious criminals; Mia Goth and Matt Smith will be the villains while Amy Adams will play the boy’s mother.

The release date is set for 28 maggio 2027.
