You only have 2 days to watch this science fiction thriller starring Hugh Jackman on Netflix
- It is one of the best war movies in the world, it was directed by Spielberg and is now available on Netflix
- It is the sequel to a monster saga, it has been released directly on Netflix and is already the most watched in Spain
Over the next few days, Netflix will keep a science fiction thriller starring Hugh Jackman in its catalog for a limited time, a story of obsession, with a future marked by climate change. The platform will say goodbye to the film next December 23which makes this title one of the most imminent withdrawals within the genre sci-fi.
It is about Reminiscencea film released in 2021 and written and directed by Lisa Joy in her feature directorial debut. The film, produced together with Jonathan Nolan, sets its story in a partially flooded Miami, where the night has become the only refuge from the extreme heat. Jackman plays Nick Bannister, a war veteran who runs a business capable of allowing people relive past memoriesa technology used both for private clients and by the State Prosecutor’s Office.
The plot is activated when a woman named Mae, played by Rebecca Ferguson, goes to Bannister’s place to solve a seemingly trivial problem. From there, the film develops a futuristic film noir story in which memories become key pieces of a personal and criminal investigation.
Joining Jackman and Ferguson in the cast are Thandiwe Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira and Daniel Wu, in a story that interweaves romance with police corruption and synthetic drugs, within a universe marked by environmental deterioration.

Memory, as a dramatic engine
Since its theatrical release, Reminiscence has generated divided opinions. Critics highlighted its narrative ambition and aesthetics, although they also compared it with other reference titles of the genre such as Blade Runner u Origen.

At the box office, the film had a discreet run, with a global gross of just over $16 million against a significantly higher budget. Even so, its time on platforms has allowed it to find a second life among fans of science fiction thrillers with overtones. noirespecially for Jackman’s restrained performance and the concept of memory as a dramatic engine.
