all films and series released in 2025 from worst to best
A year is about to end, 2025, which for fans of Stephen King it was memorable to say the least, with many films and TV series released on the big and small screen… and above all with a very high average quality.
In this ranking ‘from worst to best’, in fact, there are no real failures, but only ‘less beautiful’ titles compared to others which, in at least two cases, even came close to being a masterpiece. But without further ado, let’s get started…
- 6) The Institute: MGM+ TV series (available on Prime Video via extra subscription) inspired by a fairly recent novel by the King, which mixes science fiction themes à la Stranger Things with more horror elements, with a pinch of detective investigation. Don’t miss it!
- 5) IT: Welcome to Derry: inspired by the ‘interlude’ chapters of the novel of the same name, the HBO TV series expands the IT film saga by Andy Muschietti, showing us the bloody exploits of Pennywise in the 60s…
- 4) The Running Man: unbridled action directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, based on the novel The Implacable already adapted for the big screen in the film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger released in 1987.
- 3) The Monkey: hilarious comedy-horror directed by Oz Perkins and based on the King’s story of the same name which follows two twin brothers dealing with a cursed toy monkey.
- 2) The Life of Chuck: moving drama about the meaning of life starring Tom Hiddleston and directed by one of the greatest Kinghian directors ever, Mike Flanagan.
- 1) The Long Walk: an exhilarating thriller not recommended for the faint of heart, directed by Francis Lawrence and written by JT Mollner based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, considered ‘unfilmable’ for years. The result, after much waiting, is simply extraordinary, among the best films of the year and even the best King adaptation all-time (at least according to the Rotten Tomatoes votes).
This year they weren’t even missing news with a Stephen King twist: The aforementioned JT Mollner will make The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon movie, while they are also in production the remake of Cujo for Netflix (directed by Darren Aronofsky) and a The Stand film.
Furthermore, Mike Flanagan has finished filming the Carrie TV series, which will be released in 2026 for Prime Video…
They are Oceania 2 – Dvd It is one of today’s best sellers.
