drop of only -33% in the new weekend!
The James Cameron effect is always a source of wonder for box office analysts, and apparently it will be repeated once again with the new film Avatar: Fire and Ashes, which is preparing to face its second weekend of programming around the world.
Just like every Avatar film that came before it, for Fire and Cenere a surge is expected in the second weekend and a drop of only -33% compared to the first turning point: thanks to this data, the film will most likely surpass the 1 billion dollar mark by the end of the year, launching itself towards the race for the top of 2 billion (it would be the fourth consecutive time for a James Cameron film, also counting Titanic).
Avatar 3 took in $17 million on Tuesday – a breakout showing – and has so far grossed $120 million in the U.S. and $450 million worldwide. It will exceed 500 million dollars in the next few hourspreparing for the Friday/Saturday/Sunday holidays which will certainly act as a driving force for takings.
It is no coincidence that the forecasts for Fuoco e Cenere indicate a collection of 75 million dollars between Thursday and Friday in the USA alone, which would represent a drop of -33% compared to a week ago. In short, history seems to repeat itself with each new release of the Avatar saga: a slow opening followed by an extraordinary hold.
Recently, James Cameron flexed on his inability to flop during a new interview.
