Doomsday, but wink at Secret Wars

There is a lot of speculation surrounding Andrew Garfield’s potential return to the role of Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday. In an attempt to put an end to the issue, the actor was clear about his presence in the film: “no, unequivocally f***** no”. However, he left the door open for a possible return in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Truth be told, when it comes to Andrew Garfield and Marvel’s secrets, the community has already learned to be skeptical. We remember that the actor spent more than a year vehemently denying his participation in Spider-Man: No Return to Home, lying very convincingly in countless interviews before the film’s release.

Garfield’s firm denial about Avengers: Doomsday makes sense. The main filming of the film, which opens on December 18, 2026, has already finished and, so far, there is no indication that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will even participate in the story, which will focus on the fight of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

However, Avengers: Secret Wars is another story. Being the epic conclusion of the “Multiverse Saga”, in which your Spider-Man has already participated, it seems like the perfect opportunity for one last and grand return, before Marvel restarts its universe. In an interview with MTV, the actor teased the possibility, without denying or confirming his participation in the film: “See, what is it, is this a sign? Or what is it? You’ll find out! Whatever response I’m having, is it exasperation? Is it? I don’t know. You’ll find out.”

As for the possibility of a third solo film, Garfield closed the door definitively. “It’s not going to happen and I don’t believe it ever will, but it’s nice of you to want it to happen,” said the actor.
