“I was looking for a life on the street”

This Friday, October 17, ‘La Deuda’, the film, hits the big screen written, directed and starring Daniel Guzmán that inaugurated the last Malaga Festival. The actor, known for his different roles in series such as There is no one who lives hereattended The Revolt to promote this social drama that deals with one of the current problems that especially affects young people: access to decent housing and precariousness, among other issues. The Debt tells us the story of Luke (played by Daniel Guzman), a 47-year-old boy who tries to get money in any way to pay a debt that threatens Antonia (played by Rosario Garcia), an old woman who lives with Lucas in a central apartment. “It is a very emotional film who tries to look for the light in people who have it difficult,” he said. The actor also spoke about the difficulties he had as a young man to get ahead “from the age of 14, when my parents separated, until the age of 20, I was looking for a life on the street“In addition to mentioning the different jobs he had had before devoting himself to the world of cinema. Daniel Guzmán confessed that he had worked several summers as a bricklayer and even within the world of hospitality, jobs that he defined as very hard and sacrificial. “My father forced me to workr so that he would understand the value of studying” the actor confessed between laughs.

The film also gives prominence to the situation of the elderly, a recurring theme in Guzmán’s cinema due to his close relationship with his grandmother, a fundamental factor in the construction of the director’s personality. “It made me understand education, empathy and respect,” he said.
