“Caramelo” is in the top 3 most watched films on Netflix in the world

A week ago, the Brazilian film “Caramelo” debuted in the film catalog of Netflix. In Brazil, the film appears in first position and, this Wednesday (15), the platform announced that the production is among the top 3 most watched in the world, becoming the most watched in a non-English language and the favorite of the week among 81 countries.

In the film, a rising boss played by Rafael Vittireceives a cancer diagnosis and rediscovers life alongside his friend Peanut, a caramel-colored mutt. Directed by Diego Freitas, the film explores the connection between humans and dogs and his inspiration for the film was his own dog, Paçoca.

Curiosities about filming

Peanut made his debut in front of the camera at just nine months old, after a long and fun semester of training with the film’s team. In addition to him, another 83 dogs participated in the filming and in partnership with the Caramelo Institute, with 12 participating NGOs in 15 states in Brazil, Netflix launched a national responsible adoption campaign, with the aim of obtaining significant results in the adoption of strays.
