“Hood Witch – Roqya” premieres

On Sunday 19 October, at 9.20pm, Rai 4 offers the first screening of the film “Hood Witch – Roqya”, directed by Saïd Belktibia and starring Golshifteh Farahani (“Exodus”, “Pirates of the Caribbean – Salzaar’s Revenge”, “Alpha”). Nour, a single mother living on the outskirts of Paris, earns a living by smuggling exotic animals and running an app that connects people in the neighborhood with healers. When one of her clients dies during a ritual, Nour is accused of witchcraft and her life descends into chaos. Forced to deal with the community’s fear, superstition and prejudices, the woman tries to protect her son and find out who is framing her. Between social thriller, emotional tension and folklore, “Hood Witch – Roqya” blends urban realism and mystical suggestions, telling the fragility of those who live on the margins and the struggle for survival in a society that confuses faith, science and fear. Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the ACID section, the film marks Saïd Belktibia’s directorial debut.
