This New ‘The Goonies’ LEGO Set Is a Total Treasure

Hey, you guys! The LEGO Group is setting sail with its latest LEGO Ideas set, and it’s worth its weight in gold.

Launching this November, the LEGO Ideas The Goonies set recreates every booby trap, buried treasure, and budding friendship from the ‘80s cult classic — all in brick form. Inside this 2,912-piece diorama, fans can explore the haunting wreckage of the Inferno pirate ship, unearthing the film’s most iconic scenes along the way. From the Fratellis’ hideaway to One-Eyed Willy’s treasure room, this building set makes sure The Goonies will never say die.

This pirate ship is a treasure trove of easter eggs. Builders can drop boulders and trip trapdoors with the Copper Bones Skeleton Key, or send the Goonies spelunking in the caves through the secret fireplace entrance. You can even find a nod to the infamous deleted octopus scene, but only if you strike the right chords on the Skeleton Organ! The set features 12 minifigures — including the entire Goonies gang — as well as their classic accessories, like Data’s utility belt, Mouth’s hairbrush, and Sloth’s pirate hat.

To celebrate the set’s maiden voyage, the LEGO Group teamed up with Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, known around the Goon Docks as the gadget mastermind Data. In the mini-film, Quan reprises his role as he guides fans around the model ship, showcasing the hidden booby traps and sharing his favorite behind-the-scenes memories. Fans can watch the video now on LEGO.com.

And there’s more! Fans who purchase the LEGO Ideas The Goonies set from Nov. 1-7 will also receive a free gift — The Walshes’ Attic. This 179-piece scene recreates the life-changing moment Willy discovers the treasure map, complete with Irving and Irene Walsh minifigures. With attic antiquities, like the framed newspaper, suit of armor, and the pirate painting Mouth sticks his tongue through, this set will add an extra dash of daring to your display.

Ready to cave yet? Fans can find this treasure in LEGO Stores and online starting Nov. 4. If you’re a LEGO Insider, you can swipe the set early on Nov. 1.
