From Springsteen’s failed biopic to the young woman who wanted to be a cloistered nun: the week’s releases – Libertad Digital
This week there are 7 titles hitting movie theaters. We start with the Boss con Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhereone of my big disappointments this year. We also have a 17-year-old girl who wants to be a cloistered nun. in Sundays and a black phone that promises, but stays at that, to scare us Black Phone 2 and a new version of Frankenstein who signs this time Guillermo del Toro. The most surprising of the premieres, Tom and Jerry arrive but in a Chinese film. We review all the premieres below.
And Springsteen that depresses us
Musical biopics have been in fashion since Bohemian Rhapsody It devastated the box office and even won Oscars. The story of Freddie Mercury It was too sweetened. On the opposite side we have Rocketmanwhere Taron Egerton gave life, and voice because he sang, to Elton John. A heartbreaking story where the lights and shadows of the artist were addressed.
And now comes the biopic, totally atypical – said by the director himself – about Bruce Springsteen. Atypical because it does not tell about his rise to the top or his career, it focuses only on one moment, the creation of the album Nebraska. The problem with the film is that it tells absolutely nothing about the life of the artist whom we see in every depressive moment. There are some flashbacks about his bad relationship with his father, but he doesn’t explain it either. In the end, we witness two hours of footage in which a very good actor like Jeremy Allen White does what he can.
