The curious anecdote of Boromir’s death in the film ‘The Lord of the Rings’: “It’s time to eat”

Contrary to what it might seem, the sequence in which Boromir dies pierced by the arrows of the Uruk-Hai It was recorded at the beginning of production. And the movies are not filmed in chronological order, but beyond that, the scene in question holds another fun curiosity.

As Sean Bean himself tells in one of the behind-the-scenes documentaries, his character’s death was recorded in several takes. Later, when Boromir appears already lying and dying, with his face pale from blood loss, they announce that “it is time to eat.” Bean had to get up as if nothing had happened to feedand then lie down again and do the final scene with Viggo Mortensen.

Sean Bean’s Secret

In another of the most mythical scenes, Boromir says that “one does not simply enter Mordor,” a phrase that became a meme and that… Sean Bean actually read on a card. According to the actor, the lines of dialogue changed at the last momentso he didn’t have time to learn the text by heart in such a short time.

A few months ago ‘The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim’ was released, the first anime film set in Peter Jackson’s cinematic universe. The following production is directed by Andy Serkisis titled ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ and will be released on December 17, 2027.
