The Vatican releases a new documentary on the life of Leo XIV

“Leon from Chicago”, released on YouTube, covers in 52 minutes the personal, family and religious biography of the pontiff through his brothers Louis and John, friends and acquaintances.

The Vatican released in the last hours through YouTube ‘Leo from Chicago‘, the documentary that covers the personal, family and religious biography of the Pope Leo XIV through his brothers Louis and John, friends and acquaintances.

This is the second documentary that reviews the life of the Augustinian pontiff, after ‘León de Perú’ was released last June, which also investigated his roots, his childhood in Chicago where he grew up with his parents and siblings in a small house with a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a dining room, as revealed by his brother Louis.

A happy childhood in a Catholic home
The report is accompanied by unpublished photographs of Leo XIV, both from his childhood and his youth, accompanied by his parents, family or childhood friends, which reflect his personal and spiritual evolution until he became Successor of Peter.

His brothers remember that from his birth, the current Pope “was special.” They grew up in a Catholic home, their mother attended mass every morning before preparing them for school and faith was present at home, which led them to follow that same path.

“I think one of the nuns said something like that to him at school one year: ‘Robert Francis, you could be Pope one day,'” Louis recalls. Aspects of the Holy Father also stand out, such as his love of driving, his studious, relaxed and humble character, and his great sense of humor.

The audiovisual piece, available in Spanish, Italian and English, shows images of the house where he grew up, as well as the places that have marked his career. It also includes stories and anecdotes, such as his taste for Chicago cuisine and pizza, especially pepperoni.

The tape, made by journalists Deborah Castellano-Lubov, Salvatore Cernuzio y Felipe Herrera-Espaliatwith the assembly of Jaime Vizcaíno Harois produced by the Editorial Directorate of the Dicastery for Communication in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Apostolate El Sombrador Nueva Evangelización (ESNE).

‘Leo from Chicago‘ will be screened in the coming days in several Italian cities, specifically in Vicenza and Cremona (November 21), Trento (November 25), Verona (December 1), Genoa (December 5) and Cagliari (December 15), Vatican media reported.+
