The Netflix comedy series launched with 100% approval
In 2015, Netflix launched the comedy series Master of None, which immediately received critical acclaim and received 100% approval. Created and starring Aziz Ansari, the production is set in New York and brings deep social themes into a cinematic narrative that mixes everyday life and reflections on identity, with a sure touch of intelligent humor.
In the plot, Aziz plays Dev Shah, an actor in his 30s who tries to advance his career while balancing it with relationships, eclectic friendships and cultural identity. With three short seasons, the series is perfect for a quick marathon, especially as a couple.
Netflix error caused approval of Master of None to fall
The first season of Master of None addresses dating, friendship, immigration and racism in the entertainment industry in a very light way, creating a sensitive social critique, which made the production acclaimed and reached 100% approval.
The second season was even more praised, mainly for its visual sophistication, entering other social themes such as religion, feminism, social networks and sexuality, maintaining the same level of approval in the face of critics.
A mistake in the third season, however, dropped the rating to 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. In this last batch of episodes, the narrative focus centers on the character Denise, played by Lena Waithe, with a more dramatic and contemplative approach. Dev appears only occasionally. But despite the change in perspective, the Netflix series still has high approval ratings and is worth checking out.
