Zootopia 2 breaks Avengers: Endgame box office record

Zootopia 2 continues to consolidate its position as one of the biggest box office phenomena of 2025. Disney’s animation broke a record previously held by Avengers: Endgame by becoming the first Hollywood film to gross US$100 million in a single day in China, according to Maoyan, the country’s main box office monitoring platform.

While Endgame grossed US$107 million at launch (including previews), Zootopia 2 accumulated US$140 million in its first two days, which puts it on track to easily surpass US$550 million throughout its run in Chinese cinemas – approaching the US$617 million achieved by Marvel’s success.

The performance is even more remarkable for another reason: Zootopia 2 came very close to reaching the record for the highest daily collection in Chinese history. The brand continues to belong to Chinese animation Ne Zha 2which made US$117 million in a single day.

Em Zootopia 2after solving the biggest case in the history of Zootopia, young police officers Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) discover that their partnership is not as solid as they imagined, when Chief Bogo (Idris Elba) enrolls them in the “Partners in Crisis” counseling program. But soon their union will be put to the test when they find themselves involved in a new mystery — this time linked to the arrival of a poisonous snake in the animal metropolis.

Jason Bateman returns as Nick Wilde, the former scammer fox who is now part of the Zootopia Police Department. Ginnifer Goodwin returns as Judy Hopps, and Shakira reprises pop star Gazelle. New additions include Quinta Brunson (Emmy winner) as Dr. Fuzzby, Ke Huy Quan (Oscar winner) as the scheming snake Gary, Idris Elba again as Chief Bogo, and comedian Fortune Feimster as a beaver named Nibbles.

The cast also includes Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Hopps, Don Lake as Stu Hopps, Nate Torrence as Clawhauser, Jenny Slate as Bellwether, Alan Tudyk as Duke Weaselton, Maurice LaMarche as Mr. Big, Leah Latham as Fru Fru, John Dallas as Frantic Pig, Tommy Chong as Yax, Mark Rhino Smith as Officer McHorn and Raymond Persi as Flash. Musicians Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin make cameos as a pair of sheep named Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin.

Zootopia 2 it also features voice appearances from the stars of “Moana” and “Moana 2” – Dwayne Johnson (as Zeke) and Auliʻi Cravalho (as Anti-Venom Pen) – as well as Rachel House (as Gramma Taller) and David Fane (as Truffler); Josh Gad, from “Frozen” and “Frozen 2” (as Paul Moledebrandt); Anika Noni Rose, from “The Princess and the Frog” (as Squeal of Fortune Mouse); in addition to Stephanie Beatriz, Wilmer Valderrama and John Leguizamo, from “Encanto” (as Bloats, Higgins and Antony).
