Netflix continues to invest heavily in its Christmas productions, and Santa’s Secret (2025) arrives on streaming this Wednesday (3) precisely to win over those who love light, welcoming romantic comedies full of end-of-year charm.

Starring Alexandra Breckenridge (Virgin River), the film mixes humor, secret identity, second chances and a touch of modern fantasy that promises to please fans of the genre.

From unemployment to disguise: Taylor’s story

The plot follows Taylor (Breckenridge), a single mother who loses her job just before the holidays. Determined to guarantee a special Christmas for her daughter, she does the unthinkable: she accepts a temporary job as Santa Claus at a ski resort, but to do so she needs to disguise herself as an elderly man.

The film uses disguise as an engine for fun scenes and unexpected situations, throwing the protagonist into a world she never imagined being part of. And it is precisely in this unlikely environment that complications begin to arise… and possible new beginnings.

Romance, confusion and second chances

At the resort, Taylor starts working under the supervision of the manager played by Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist), who quickly realizes that there is something different about “Santa Claus”. The chemistry between the two characters grows lightly and naturally, creating the kind of sweet and fun romance you’d expect from a good Christmas movie.

The script uses the trick of disguise – almost like in classic comedies – to create tension, physical humor and embarrassing situations, but always maintaining the heart of the story: a mother’s struggle to rebuild her own life and find a new form of happiness.

Alexandra Breckenridge shines as the protagonist

Known for starring in emotional dramas, Breckenridge shows a lighter and more versatile side here. She manages to balance humor, charisma and vulnerability, delivering a protagonist who is easy to root for, especially for the love and dedication she shows for her daughter.

Ryan Eggold also works very well as a romantic partner, adding charm to the narrative and completing the “warm and cozy” tone typical of Christmas films.

Christmas atmosphere tailor-made for marathoning

It is not a surprising work, but Santa’s Secret delivers everything the public is looking for in December: snowy scenes, colorful lights, community spirit, reunions, family and that feeling of comfort that Netflix masters so well in this type of production.

It’s the kind of film made to watch with hot chocolate, decorate the tree or simply relax after a tiring day.
