A scary appetizer
It is not the complete menu. Not even the main course. But it already smells like appetizers worth eating. The scariest week of the year is approaching and cinemas know it, so they are going to prepare their viewers with a billboard that already calls for the anticipation of genre lovers. In fact, the weekend will bring a highly anticipated premiere, as is the second installment of the saga narrated by Scott Derrickson (Dr. Strange). In this case, the director arrives with Black Phone 2.
Figures such as Ethan Hawke (Before dawn), Mason Thames (How to train your dragon), Madeleine McGraw (The sniper) Miguel Cazarez Mora.
Now, The Raptor wants revenge on Finn from the grave and chooses Gwen, his little sister, as his target. Gwen, a strong-willed 15-year-old teenager, begins receiving calls from a black phone in her dreams, accompanied by disturbing visions of something or someone stalking three boys at Alpine Lake winter camp. Determined to solve the mystery and end her brother’s torment, Gwen convinces Finn to go to camp during a blizzard. Together, the two brothers must face an even more powerful killer from death.
From another point of view, there will also be terror for the little ones. And Chris Butler (Kubo and the two magic strings) writes and directs – along with Sam Fell (Ratonpolis) the animation work The amazing world of Norman.
A story that tells how the terrified inhabitants of a town besieged by zombies can only ask for help from the misunderstood Norman, a young man who knows how to talk to the dead. In addition to facing the undead, he will have to face ghosts, witches and, what is worse, the most dazed adults to save his town from an ancient curse.
But there will also be room on the billboard for other tastes. As is the case of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. A biographical drama directed by Scott Cooper (Black Mass: Estrictamente criminal) and starring Jeremy Allen White (Shameless), as well as others such as Jeremy Strong (The incident), Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell) u Odessa Young (savage nation).
It is a film adaptation of Warren Zanes’ account of the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album “Nebraska.” The film follows ‘The Boss’ as a young musician at the dawn of world fame, trying to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past. Recorded on an old four-track cassette in his bedroom in New Jersey, ‘Nebraska’ reflects a momentous period in his life and is filled with lost characters searching for a reason to believe.
The director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa (five little wolves) returns to the big screen with Sundaysa drama that delves into the life of Ainara, an idealistic and brilliant 17-year-old girl, who has to decide what university degree she will study. Or, at least, that’s what his family hopes he will do. However, the young woman states that she feels increasingly closer to God and is considering embracing the life of a cloistered nun. The news catches the entire family by surprise, causing an abyss and a trial by fire for everyone.
Spanish cinema will add one more premiere, in this case with the debut feature by Javier Polo Gandía, which is none other than Little ordeals. All in all, the director has surrounded himself with a top-notch cast, including Pablo Molinero (among others). To the fish), Enrique Arce (The Money Heist), Arturo Valls (Camera cafe), Andrea Duro (Physics or chemistry) Berta Vázquez (Palm trees in the snow).
The director immerses us in the life of Carlo, an eccentric watchmaker, who seems to have the power to influence the inhabitants of his city, pushing them to the limit and challenging them to take control of their crazy destinies. How will a misunderstood hypochondriac react when confronted with the news of his imminent death? Can a girl overcome the question of whether her relationship is more of a burden than a blessing? What will happen when a peaceful yoga teacher is disturbed by the arrival of a mysterious new neighbor? What if a dream vacation turns into a nightmare? Will our protagonists be prepared to overcome their small ordeals?
Finally, the little ones will also be able to enjoy Chinese animation production Tom and Jerry: Adventure in Timewhich tells how these two mythical cartoon characters travel through time. After a crazy chase at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, a time portal transports them to a golden city inspired by Ancient China, full of magic, warriors and surprising creatures. To return home, they live an incredible adventure full of action and humor, where they must face new enemies… and perhaps learn to work together!
