Alexandre Astier would like to offer fans the director’s cut of Kaamelott: First part
The director of the first film adaptation of his comedy series inspired by Knights of the Round Table has just revealed that he plans to release a long version of this film which attracted 2.5 million spectators in 2021.
While Kaamelott: Second part has just taken the lead in the French box office with some 600,000 admissions in one week, Alexandre Astier, its director, has just revealed to our colleagues at First that he plans to release the long version of the first cinematographic part of his pastiche of the legend of the Knights of the Round Table.

To meet the deadlines for reopening theaters in summer 2021, several scenes had to be deleted during editing. I agreed to cut the film, maybe it was the right thing to do. But this version of KV1there you go, it’s missing a quarter of an hour, twenty minutes, compared to the version that I liked”.
When will Alexandre Astier tackle this «pure premium» Kaamelott: First part ?. He seems not to know it himself because “In fact, everything will depend on what it will cost in post-production”. The director, perfectionist as hell, first wants to improve the special effects of the version released in 2021, so that – and this is his great ambition – this new version becomes the official version of the first part of the trilogy.
