Among the 12 films competing for the Oscar for Best International Film, three are about Palestine

The Academy has published the shortlist of films in the running for a nomination for the Best International Film award at the next Oscars, together with those of 11 other “technical” categories. This is a first official selection made up of 12 films, from which the five finalists will then be chosen. Among the 92 candidates proposed by the film academies of countries around the world, this year the Academy has included in the shortlist well three works related to Palestine. To get to the final five, these titles will have to compete with the films considered favorites to win, among which Norwegian stands out Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier and the Iranian A simple accident by Jafar Panahi, both highly regarded on the international festival circuit.
