A Apple Original Films announces today, October 13th, that “F1® – The Movie”, the highest-grossing sports feature film of all time, starring Brad Pitt (“Fight Club”, “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood”) and the director Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”, “Tron: The Legacy”), debut worldwide on Apple TVna Friday, December 12thafter a record-breaking run in theaters.

Since its release in theaters on June 27, 2025, “F1® – The Movie” has broken records, debuting in 1st place and surpassing $629 million at the box office worldwide. In addition to being the highest-grossing sports feature film, “F1® The Movie” is this year’s highest-grossing original production and the biggest debut for an original live action film in the US in the last five years, as well as Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing feature film to date. The film boasts an A CinemaScore rating, an incredible 97% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and continues to receive praise for being the most authentic racing feature film ever produced.

Called “the best who didn’t get there”, Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was the great promise of Formula 1 in the 1990s — until an accident almost put an end to his career. Thirty years later, he lives as a nomadic driver hired by teams around the world, until he is approached by Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), a former teammate and owner of a team on the verge of bankruptcy.

Ruben convinces Sonny to return to Formula 1 for one last chance to save the team and be the best in the world. He will drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s rookie sensation, determined to set his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he discovers that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competitor — and the road to redemption is not one you can travel alone.
