Argentine Cinemas | The most visited film website in Argentina

Without a doubt, one of the most boring films that paraded through the billboard this year.

A shame, because Jackie Chan’s Chinese proposals do not frequently reach our cinemas, and in this case it was the artist’s meeting with director Stanley Tong, responsible for numerous iconic titles.

Among them Police Story 3: Super Cop, Rumble in the Bronx y Police Story 4: First Strike. Tong also developed the popular television series Martial Lawwith Sammo Hung, which aired in Argentina in the late ’90s.

The Chinese colleagues annihilated this new project by the director with Jackie in the reviews, and the truth is that after seeing it I can’t refute anything, because it’s really bad.

It is important to note that this film is a continuation of The Myththe last popular success that this duo created in 2005, where Jackie embodied a kind of Asian Indiana Jones.

In 2017 the sequel was released, Kung Fu Yogawhich focused more on martial arts comedy.

For some crazy reason, the producers decided to delete that proposal from the canon and develop The discoverer of legends as the second official part.

Which is why it is recommended to know the original film, since otherwise you will be left out of the plot arc that the protagonists go through.

In China this film generated controversy for presenting a version of Jackie rejuvenated with artificial intelligence.

Although in recent years in Hollywood we have seen films where actors were rejuvenated with digital effects, this is something different, since the artist in this case was recreated entirely with AI.

The paradox of this issue is that, although Jackie looks strange – he looks like he came out of a wax museum – the flashback sequences provide the best moments of action, the only ones that wake the audience from the tedium.

The rest of the content is monotonous, with endless moments of exposition, a conflict that is more convoluted than necessary, and romantic subplots that seem straight out of an Asian soap opera.

In the last 20 minutes it picks up a bit with more action, but the enthusiasm comes late and overall the film leaves a bitter taste.

Jackie could have had a perfect farewell with Ride On (premiered in Argentina), but he remains stubborn in linking himself with mediocre projects in search of evoking the glory of the past.

This year, that film’s director, Larry Yang, rescued it from the debacle with The Shadow’s Edgethe most critically received film in Chan’s recent filmography.

This new continuation of The Myth You can let it pass since you don’t miss anything interesting.
