“Back to the Future” almost got this crazy title

Director Robert Zemeckis and producers Bob Gale and Steven Spielberg were anything but enthusiastic about this idea, but initially didn’t know how to change Sheinberg’s mind. In an interview with shortlist.com years later, Gale explained that it was ultimately Spielberg who sent Sheinberg a message saying, “Hi Sid, thanks for your funny memo, we all had a good laugh.” Sheinberg then dropped the topic and the film could be released with his now well-known name.

But it wasn’t just the title that was almost different. The legendary time machine from “Back to the Future” almost didn’t exist.
