In addition to the Brazilian film, Obama’s list includes: “One Battle After Another”, “Sinners”, “It Was Just an Accident”, “Hamnet”, “Valor Sentimental”, “No Other Choice”, “Train Dreams”, “Jay Kelly”, “Good Fortune” e “Orwell 2+2=5”.

Wagner Moura exposes Bolsonaro during the Golden Globe event: “Fascist”

The actor Wagner Moura participated on Wednesday (17) in a Golden Globe gala event, the First-Time Golden Globe Nomineesaimed exclusively at artists nominated for the award for the first time and which aims to introduce them to the Hollywood commercial circuit.

During the reception, Wagner Moura gave an interview to the magazine Varietyin which he spoke about the honor of being nominated for a Golden Globe for a Brazilian film and about Brazil. He also commented on the good moment of national cinema and criticized former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), whom he classified as “fascist”.

“I can’t deny the fact that all this is happening with a Brazilian film. I was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2016 for Narcosand it was great, I felt great. But I can’t deny that this has a special feeling: the fact that it’s a film from Brazil, directed by a Brazilian director (Kleber Mendonça Filho), with whom I’ve been trying to work for a long time. This means a lot to Brazilians. It’s great”, said Wagner Moura.

Then, the protagonist of The Secret Agent spoke about Brazilians’ pride in the recent achievements of national cinema and harshly criticized former president Jair Bolsonaro.

“This is great. Brazil, from 2018 to 2022, was under a very hardcore government. He was a fascist guy (Jair Bolsonaro), who didn’t like arts, didn’t like culture. So it’s beautiful to see Brazilians engaged since last year, with Still I’m Here, when Fernanda Torres and Walter Salles were here. The engagement of Brazilians, this idea that ‘these artists somehow represent us’, moves me deeply. Representing a part of the country It means a lot,” he declared.

“The Secret Agent” competes in three categories at the Golden Globes: Best Actor in a Drama, Best Film in a Drama and Best Film in a Non-English Language.
