Box office: “Kaamelott 2” records half as many admissions as the first part, a flop for Jean Dujardin’s new film which misses the top 10

“Dog 51” only remained at the top of the box office for one short week. Cédric Jimenez’s latest film (“Bac nord”, “Novembre”, “La French”, etc.), an anticipation thriller played by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Gilles Lellouche, had to give up first place to the last part of “Kaamelott”. However, it attracted more than 371,000 spectators in the second week, approaching 800,000 admissions in total. In front of him, the feature film from the series broadcast at the time on M6, directed by Alexandre Astier, who also plays the main role in the person of King Arthur, won over a little more than 536,000 spectators for its first week of operation.
“Kaamelott” double “Dog 51”
If “Kaamelott – Second part (part 1)” ranks 13th among the best weeks of 2025 (between “Snow White” and “Ma Mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan”), the comedy is doing significantly worse than the first week of the first opus, released in July 2021. At the time, the million admissions mark had been reached in its first 7 days of operation.
Due to the All Saints’ Day holidays, youth films performed well. “Hopper and the Secret of the Marmot”, a family comedy by Benjamin Mousquet, moves up one place in the ranking (+70% attendance compared to last week) and occupies the 3rd step of the podium. It is close to 500,000 admissions after two weeks in theaters. The surprise success of this fall, “It was better tomorrow”, is confirmed. The comedy by Vinciane Millereau, with Didier Bourdon and Elsa Zylberstein in the role of a couple living in the 1950s and propelled into 2025, saw its attendance increase by 12% for its 3rd week of operation. It now has more than 636,000 entries.
Good start for “The Little One” by Hafsia Herzi
“Gabby and the Magic House – The Film” moved up one place, entertaining more than 188,000 young and old for its third week in theaters (+41% attendance). Two new releases then arrive: the adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga “Chainsaw Man – The Film: Reze’s Arc”, which brought together more than 181,000 fans of the saga, and “The Little One”. Hafsia Herzi’s latest feature film highlights the talent of Nadia Melliti in the role of Fatima, 17, a teenager raised in a practicing Muslim family who questions her sexuality and her identity. A story adapted from the book by Fatima Daas, which reached more than 168,000 spectators.
8th in this Top, “Super grand prix” made a remarkable return (+ 79% attendance) with 154,000 entries recorded last week. The animated film has now sold 317,000 tickets in 3 weeks of operation. The downfall of the week is attributed to “One Battle After Another.” The thrilling feature film by Paul Thomas Anderson with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, which monopolized first place at the box office for three weeks, moves from 2nd to 8th place in the Top. With 153,000 new spectators, it has already attracted 1.32 million spectators. The animated film “Arco”, directed by Ugo Bienvenu, brings up the rear with just over 152,000 curious people for its first week in theaters.
Kev Adams leaves the Top 10, flop confirmed for “Deux pianos” with François Civil
The disappointment of the week is for “The Shrinking Man”. Jan Kounen’s latest film (“99 Francs”, “Les infidèles”) with Jean Dujardin failed to make it into the Top 10 most seen films at the cinema last week. With just over 151,000 entries, it is in 11th place in the ranking. Note the flop of “Tron: Ares”, a blockbuster with Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges, which leaves the Top 10 (12th) for its 3rd week in theaters. In 13th place, we find “Le jour D”, the latest comedy with Kev Adams in the title role, which only made 112,000 spectators laugh for its second week of operation. Just behind, “A Simple Accident” by Jafar Panahi, crowned Palme d’Or at Cannes last May and chosen to represent France at the Oscars, is completing its first month in theaters and has accumulated more than 567,000 admissions. Arnaud Desplechin’s latest film, “Deux pianos”, in which we find François Civil and Charlotte Rampling, confirms its failure with only 57,000 admissions for its 2nd week of release (149,000 in total). He is now 18th in the rankings.
