Charlie Chaplin wins film exhibition in São Paulo – 10/07/2025 – Cinema
The CCBB SP (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) hosts a film show about Charlie Chaplin from October 8th to November 2nd. At the event, 83 films by the British filmmaker will be shown, including shorts, medium-length films and feature films.
The program includes debates, accessible sessions and activities aimed at children.
The classic “The Great Dictator” will be shown, which follows a Jewish barber as he returns home and discovers that a fascist dictator has come to power and imposed anti-Semitic policies.
Another option is “O Garoto”, which tells the story of a boy abandoned by his mother and raised by a homeless man.
It will also be displayed “Modern Times“in which the character Tramp is oppressed by machines in a factory and must face the challenges of modern life.
The curatorship is by José de Aguiar, with production by Firula Filmes. The exhibition has already visited Brasília and Rio de Janeiro, and will continue to Belo Horizonte after São Paulo.
The event also marks the launch of a catalog with previously unpublished articles in Brazil about Chaplin’s work.
