Chevy Silverado EV establishes a new range record with a 1,059 mile trip with a single load

How far can an electric vehicle go between one load and another? Chevy Silverado EV was tested and lasted over 1,000 miles.

Chevy engineers have selected a Silverado EV Max Range work truck for the challenge on public roads in Detroit, Michigan. They made some minor modifications to improve efficiency and traveled 1,059.2 miles before hypermilitating the truck to the last drop of battery power, representing an average consumption of 4.9 miles per kilowatt-hour.

For the benefit of truck owners wishing to repeat the feat, the engineers kept a specific tire pressure, dropped the windshield cleans, removed the spare tire and placed a protective cover. They also kept the speed between 20 and 25 mph and turned off the lights and the air conditioner.

Compared to Lucid’s record, Silverado EV lasted much more than the 749 miles traveled by the Air Grand Touring sedan between St. Moritz, Switzerland and Munich in Germany. However, the achievement of the startup was more realistic, as it imitated some conditions of real -life direction, such as a highway cruise.

Praising the record-president team, GM’s vice president of battery, propulsion and sustainability, Kurt Kelty, said: “Getting this kind of reach with a full charge does not happen by chance. It takes profound integration between battery chemistry, driving unit efficiency, software and vehicle engineering, and that’s exactly what the team did.”

Chevy Silverado EV offers up to 493 miles of autonomy (according to EPA estimates) and 760 HP/785 LB-FT. The starting price is $ 52,800 before incentives.
