China is about to reach another milestone with the electric car in 2025

The data collected by Financial Times indicate that this will be the first year when electric vehicle sales will surpass cars with combustion engines. The Chinese government has once again intervened this year to further boost sales and accelerate the transition to electrification.

China has become the largest electric car market in the world. In a few years, the Asian giant has managed to position itself as the country where electric cars are sold. Growth has been so fast that analysts already foresee a historic milestone for 2025: the sale of electric vehicles will surpass cars with combustion engines.

This is the projection presented by Financial Timeswhich points out that in 2025 China should sell about 12 million electric cars. To get an idea of the scale of this growth, in 2022 were sold 5.9 million electric vehicles in the country – that is, the volume must three -year -old.

These predictions are based on data from four investment banks and research groups and consider just fully electric cars (battery electric vehicles).

This point is relevant because, in China, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are grouped in the same category, called New Energy Vehicles.
