Despite FAILURE, ‘Tron: Ares’ exceeds US$ 100 million worldwide
Despite a disappointing debut, the sequel’Tron: Ares‘ managed to surpass the mark of US$100 million at the global box office.
Internationally, the film suffered a drop of -54%, adding US$14.1 million across 52 markets. In total, production already amounts to US$48.4 million not international market.
The TOP 5 largest markets include Mexico (US$4.9M), United Kingdom (US$4.3M), France (US$3.3M), China (US$2.8M) and Germany (US$2.7M).
In the USA, production has already raised US$54.6 million.
It is worth remembering that the film failed in its debut in the North American territory, grossing only US$33.4 million on its first weekend. Performance was below projections, which indicated an opening of around US$45-50 million not country.
For comparison, the film starring Jared Leto fell short of the domestic release of ‘Morbius‘ ($39M), which was considered one of the biggest flops of 2021. Furthermore, the production failed to reach the numbers of ‘Tron – Or Legacy‘ (US$44M).
It’s a disappointing performance for a production budgeted at US$180 million.
With just 56% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoesthe film received a B+ rating from the public on CinemaScore.
