Disney CEO makes acting debut in Zootopia 2 and the character’s name is perfect

The Disney boss, Bob Igerdecided to appear in an unexpected way in the studio’s new film. In addition to running one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world, he can now consider himself an official part of the cast of Zootopia 2where he makes a cameo appearance as the weather presenter with the best possible name, “Bob Tiger“.

The first Zootopiareleased in 2016 and directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, was a huge success. With a budget of around 150 million dollars, the film grossed 1 billion in theaters and became one of Disney’s greatest animations. Even so, the sequel took almost a decade to get off the ground.

Now, Zootopia 2 hits theaters directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, bringing back Ginnifer Goodwin (the voice of the rabbit Judy Hopps) and Jason Bateman (the fox Nick Wilde).

In the new story, Judy and Nick continue to work together in the police, but the differences between them cause new tensions. Everything changes when a snake named Gary De’Snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quanappears asking for help for his people. The duo needs to learn to deal with their differences to solve the case.

In addition to the protagonists, the film features appearances by Andy Samberg, Shakira (like Gazelle) and Idris Elba (like boss Bogo). But what no one expected was to see Bob Iger voicing a character in the middle of all this.

Return to the origins of Bob Iger

The choice of role was not accidental. Before becoming an executive, Bob Iger began his career as a weather presenter in Ithaca, New York.

In 2014, at the New York City Broadcasting & Cable Awards, he commented on this phase of life.

“I was lucky enough to discover what I wanted to do at an early age, watching the news every night with my parents. I thought I wanted to be Walter Cronkite. But after a few months of giving bad news about the weather, I realized it wasn’t for me and changed careers. Still, I never stopped being fascinated by television.”

With this reference to the past, Iger’s participation ended up being an internal joke with his own history.

Bob Iger isn’t the only familiar face appearing in the film. The new Zootopia also features the voices of Dwayne Johnson, Josh Gad and John Leguizamo.

Zootopia 2 is now showing in cinemas.
