Disney rejected a Star Wars movie directed by David Fincher

After Adam Driver revealed that his film project focused on Ben Solo was discarded by Disney, another similar case arises: The company also rejected a movie Star Wars devised by David Fincher.

According to the newsletter The InSneiderthe director presented a story set after The Rise of Skywalkercentered on a character from that film, although it is unknown what the focus was.

The project did not prosper because Lucasfilm refused to grant Fincher the final cut of the production, a creative control that the director considers essential for his productions.

Fincher began his career working on Return of the Jedi and was one of the names considered to direct The Force Awakens in its early stages of development.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy produced The curious case of Benjamin Buttonwhich suggested that a collaboration with Fincher was possible, but negotiations broke down.

Currently, the filmmaker is preparing a project for Netflix related to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywoodby Quentin Tarantino.

In parallel, The Hunt for Ben Solo, which was to reunite Driver with Steven Soderbergh, was scrapped because Disney executives did not accept the idea of reviving Kylo Ren.

According to journalist Jeff Sneider, there are no plans for Driver’s return to Star Warsand Kennedy’s imminent departure from Lucasfilm, scheduled for early next year, would make his return even less likely.
