The cast that will play the children of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the biographical film Dark Horse (The Underdog) is already defined. Actor Marcus Ornellas – who is Brazilian, with an established career in Mexico – was cast as senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), North-American Eddie Finlay as federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL), and Brazilian Sérgio Barreto as the interpreter of councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

As shown by the Pleno.Newsthe main role will go to actor Jim Caviezel, known for playing Jesus in the film The Passion of Christby Mel Gibson. It is not yet known which actresses will be responsible for playing former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) and her daughter, Laura.

The work will portray the trajectory of the former Chief Executive with an emphasis on the 2018 presidential campaign and the stab wound he suffered in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. It will be directed by American filmmaker Cyrus Nowrasteh. The director is known for productions linked to religious themes.

The script is signed by federal deputy Mario Frias (PL-SP), former actor and former special secretary for culture in the Bolsonaro government. The idea is to portray the conservative leader as a national hero. The work will be launched in 2026.
