Ford F-150 2024: news, engines, interiors, fittings

Debuts at the Detroit Motor Show the restyling of the Ford F-150, real best seller on the American market. The pick-up passes through a light update from an aesthetic point of view, but important from the point of view of the equipment and powerstrains. For the moment there are no indications about a similar upgrade of theF-150 Lightning elettrico. The installations are called XL, STX, XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor and Raptor R, to be combined with the Regular, Super Car and SuperCrew bodywork with 3 variants of the cassone length.

The restyling and pro-acass tailgate. The Ford F-150 made its debut in 2021, and the restyling for 2024 focuses mainly on the design of the optical groups (now LED for all versions) and bumpers. Unpublished masks are also introduced combined with the various settings and new chromatic combinations, but the real, and wait, novelty is that relating to the rear compartment: in fact, the pro-access tailgate begins with an openable central counter, with three predefined corners and a dedicated predellino. In the rear compartment, a new closed box has been inserted to store accessories, while the availability of the highly appreciated Pro Power Owoard to feed external accessories with 2.4 kW for the classic endothermic versions and 7.2 kW for the hybrid was confirmed.

Double 12 “display and 5G connection for all versions. The dashboard hosts new displays, offered as standard for all versions. The infotainment and instrumentation are in fact managed by two separated 12 “screens based on a new generation platform and, for the first time on the F-150, the head-up display is also made available. To offer even more complete services and better productivity at work, the Ford has integrated the 5G connection in the infotainment Sync4. This has made it possible to introduce the remote update of the systems of the systems edge, but also of new services dedicated to company fleets in FordPass and Ford Pro Telematics applications.

Farewell to the aspirate, while the Raptor R flies over 700 HP. The engine of the engine sees the output of the base engine V6 3.3 aspirated: in its place we find the V6 2.7 EcoBoost, flanked by the older brother V6 3.5 EcoBoost. The 430 HP Hybrid Powerboost version remained unchanged, but its price was aligned with the 3.5 one to further push sales. For those looking for higher performance, the classic 5.0 V8 aspirated is foreseen, and the availability of the offroad Tremor package with personalized aesthetic and a series of official accessories available in option, such as the front winch, is confirmed. At the height of the range we always find the Raptor and Raptor R versions: the first uses the 450 HP V6 3.5 EcoBoost, while the second confirms the V8 5.2 with volumetric compressor, thanks to an upgrade that will bring the power to over 700 HP. Following customer requests, Ford has changed the bumpers and fenders of the Raptor version to be able to mount 37 “wheels at the Raptor R, also new Fox Dual Live Valve shock absorbers are now planned.

Adas by subscription. The level 2 Blue Cruise 1.2 Package is expected on the whole range, but the formula is unpublished: after the first 90 days of use, the system will require a monthly or annual subscription to access the extensive features such as the gearbox and management of the position in the lane during the driving phases with adaptive cruise control.
