Ford recalls 103,000 F-150 in the United States for an axle bolt problem-the automotive annual

Ford is recalling 103,107 F-150 vans in the United States after identifying a problem with rear axle bolts. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these bolts could break, resulting in a risk of loss of power or involuntary movement of the vehicle when it is parked without the parking brake being engaged.

The affected models
This recall concerns the F-150 products between 2023 and 2025.
The NHTSA estimates that around 1 % of vehicles could be affected.

It is unknown for the moment if F-150 vans in Canada are affected by this problem. To date, no recall has been announced in the country.

The problem
A broken axle bolt can damage the axle hub groove – essential components that transmit the power of the axle to the wheels.
Damaged grooves can:

  • • Allow the vehicle to move even in a “park” position if the parking brake is not activated.
  • • cause a loss of motor power.

In both cases, the risk of accident is increased.

Highlight signs
Ford indicates that if the rear bolt begins to loosen, drivers could hear a rattling. In the event of a break, a no more marked rattling or scrap noise could be heard.

La solution
The dealers will replace all the rear axle trees for free on the vehicles concerned.
