“Frankenstein” and the biopic by Mauricio de Sousa are the big movie premieres of the week

The “Frankenstein” monster is back on the big screen! A new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel took shape and returned to theaters directed by famous filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. This week, the program also features the biopic of the creator of Turma da Mônica, Maurício de Sousa; with the novel “Se Não Fosse Você”, a national horror film, and much more.

Em “Frankenstein“, the film follows the egocentric scientist Victor Frankenstein who decides to venture into audacious experiments and create a living creature from scratch. What these attempts and studies trigger is a tragedy for both the creator and his monstrous creation.

Playing God led Frankenstein to realize his greatest scientific ambitions, but placed him in the crosshairs of his own creature’s anger, who now seeks revenge after finding himself discarded by his professor. Watch the trailer:

Another highlight is “Mauricio De Sousa: The Film”, which recounts the life of Brazil’s most important comic artist, from his childhood, his relationship with his parents and the first steps and memorable moments that made his dream of becoming a cartoonist come true.

Creator of Turma da Mônica and other famous characters from Brazilian culture, the plot brings a personal and sensitive look at the life of an artist and the references that formed him, such as his grandmother Dita and family, essential figures for the creation of Turma da Mônica. The dramatic romance “If It Wasn’t For You” is also highly anticipated among lovers of the genre. In the film, after becoming a teenage mother, Morgan does not want her daughter Clara to suffer the same fate. A highlight among the premieres of national films is “#Hello Rosa“, with a very current theme. In the film, Rosa, 13 years old, is an internet celebrity at the height of her career. Anguish sets in when she discovers that she is manipulated and lives a life of lies. The contrast between the perfect image on social media and the oppressive reality creates a visceral drama. For fans of the horror genre, “Haunted Recife 2 – The Curse of White Days” premieres in theaters. In the plot, a group of young researchers specializing in the paranormal are hired by an enigmatic businessman to uncover the legend of a jewel capable of resurrecting the dead.

As they delve into the city’s rich history in search of clues about the mysterious artifact, they find themselves entangled in a web of frightening secrets hidden in the capital of Pernambuco, putting their lives in check as they try to unravel the mystery that surrounds them. Look:

The week also has options for children with “Frankie and the Monsters”, which is about a young monster called Stitch Head who is summoned to a Freak Show theater and seems to have finally found what he always dreamed of: love and fame. Check it out:

Actor Michael Keaton, Oscar winner in 2015, returns to the big screen this week with the dramatic comedy “Father of the Year” The film is about how Andy Goodrich’s life turns upside down when his wife enters a rehab clinic for 90 days, leaving him alone with the responsibility of taking care of the couple’s nine-year-old twins. The Ugly Stepsister“, a mix between horror and comedy, also hits the big screen. In the film, Elvira lives in a kingdom where nothing is as important as beauty. Stepsister to young Cinderella, the film will follow her giving all her blood, sweat and tears to be chosen as the most beautiful in the place and try to win the prom queen award.

The animation “Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Arco Da Reze” also hits theaters. The story is about Denji living as the feared Chainsaw Man, a young man with the heart of a demon who is part of Special Division 4 of Demon Hunters. After a memorable encounter with Makima, the woman of his dreams, he seeks refuge from the rain and ends up meeting Reze, the mysterious attendant at a cafe.

Relaunch

Taking advantage of the sequence of re-releases, “ParaNorman” returns to theaters 13 years after its first release. In the animation, a misunderstood boy who can talk to the dead teams up with ghosts and zombies to save his city from a centuries-old curse.
