Ghostface still on Neve Campbell’s trail in the trailer

In this new opus by Kevin Williamson, actress Neve Campbell makes her return after skipping the sixth part of the cult horror franchise, released in 2023.

A few hours before Halloween, Paramount revealed the first trailer for the horror film this Thursday Scream 7directed by American Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter and creator of the saga. It will be released in theaters in France on February 25. The previous – and sixth – opus dates from March 2023 and brought together nearly 1.2 million spectators according to CBO.

This part, written by Guy Busick, marks a new departure for the franchise, marked by the withdrawal of actresses Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, as well as that of director Christopher Landon. Above all, it marks the return of Neve Campbell, heroine of the saga since the very first part in 1996, directed by Wes Craven.

“When a new Ghostface emerges in the peaceful town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has rebuilt her life, her worst nightmares resurface,” the synopsis states. “When her daughter becomes the next target, Sidney has no choice but to return to the fight. Determined to protect her loved ones, she will have to confront the demons of her past to try to end the bloodshed once and for all.”

Actress Neve Campbell will therefore return to service, after having skipped the sixth part for financial reasons. In the cast, Courteney Cox is back, as is David Arquette – whose character Dewey was killed in the fifth film of the franchise, as were two other “deaths” of the franchise, Matthew Lillard who played Ghostface in the first Scream and Mason Gooding, who played Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream 5 et 6. Jasmin Savoy Brown is also back. Isabel May (Young Sheldon, 1883) will play Sidney’s daughter. Anna Camp, McKenna Grace and Mark Consuelos complete the cast.
