Government sends humanitarian mission to RJ to resume normality
The federal government installed a humanitarian mission in the city of Rio de Janeiro for emergency actions to help the communities of Complexos do Alemão and Penha, impacted by the most violent police operation in the history of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, which left 121 people dead, including four police officers.
The mission is coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, and, in the last two days, the head of the ministry, Minister Macaé Evaristo, was in Rio for meetings with community leaders and representatives of the municipality’s public authorities to coordinate the resumption of the operation of schools, health units, transport and also guarantee psychosocial care for residents of those communities.
Minister Macaé emphasized that the proposal is to receive the demands of the communities, the operating needs of public services and the operating conditions of public bodies, aiming at transparency and inter-institutional monitoring, with information to advance the mission in the territory.
According to the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, the humanitarian mission will continue in Rio in the coming weeks.
The action takes place in conjunction with the ministries of Justice and Public Security, Health, Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger, Racial Equality and Women.
