Hailee Steinfeld’s 5 Best Movies: Cinescopia

Hailee Steinfeld began acting in small short films when she made the jump to the big leagues at the age of 13 with the Coen Brothers playing Matie Ross in True Grit. Her artistic career has been characterized by being multifaceted: from playing roles in different genres, doing dubbing, her most iconic role being Spider Gwen in the animated Spiderverse saga, to even becoming a singer having two EP’s. To add more cherries to this career, she has her own marketing company and is soon to marry one of the best American football players of today; Josh Allen QB of the Bills, Most Valuable Player in the 2024 Season, forming the best NFL-Showbiz couple today (Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift who)

Hailee seems to be living the American dream; businesswoman, singer, promising actress and married to an athlete, here we review her best films about a career with potential

5 – Spider-Man: Into / Across The Spider-Verse (2018, 2023)

On the one hand, animation reaches doctoral levels by now not only mixing different styles in a single take, but also experimenting with different types of animation in different settings (from watercolors to New Age). On the other hand, its paternalistic and existentialist plot shows perhaps the most aversive and psychologically disturbing side of Spidey, showing that his suffering is not only gasoline, but an emptiness that generated a search for belonging to some group, with a dichotomy between Miles fighting to break that status quo. Spidey’s best film duo, proving that animation is the field that best suits superhero films. Hailee Steinfeld voices Gwen Stacy

4 – Begin Again (John Carney, 2013)

BY THE FETT

Excellent romantic-musical piece. On a narrative, visual and auditory level, Carney, as well as the co-star producer of the film in the hands of Mark Ruffalo (outside his comfort zone), enchant the figure of Keira to build a passionate story about music around her. The love that develops is not that between the two characters, but that between her and music, this being the turning point of the film and the main focus of her decessions. Very tender and honest, the best thing about the film is that it does not fall into manipulation, manipulation or corniness, and as a plus, the soundtrack is still beautiful. Hailee Steinfeld also stands out in her role as Violet, establishing herself as an actress after True Grit

3 – The Edge of Seventeen (Kelly Fremon Craig, 2016)

BY THE FETT

The pretty girl’s first tape Kelly Fremon Craig earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Hailee Steinfeld and even some recognition from critics circles as the best debut film of 2016. The story revolves around the friendship of two teenagers and how it begins to falter when one of them begins to have relations with the other’s brother. A skillful and intelligent teenage tragicomedy that definitely positions itself as one of the best narratives on the subject in recent years. Complete cast Woody Harrelson, which makes tremendous chemistry as the synodal of this precocious teenager. A very underrated film

2 – Sinners (Ryan Coogler, 2025)

BY THE FETT

It is not only a tremendous analogy to the KKK massacre and the racial segregation of the “non-white” in all its forms (black, Irish, Asian, Indian), but also a hymn of love to the origins of the blues and that classic “bluesist” and his fight against his own socio-racial conditions. It is also a “From Dusk Till Dawn” 100 times improved, with effective background and character development, violent entertainment, but above all a thoughtful construction on southern folklore. The performances, between brotherly drama, comedy and horror, stand out at each point of the plot, with Hailee Steinfeld perhaps being the sacrifice that hurts the most in the plot. It’s dirty, improvised, passionate and deep, like any good blues.

1 – True Grit (Coen Brothers, 2010)

BY THE FETT

The western could be labeled as a genre that covers few topics thanks to its conception as the portrait of a violent era, however the unjust segregation was diluted in the early 1950s until 1969 saw its arrival in a communion with a more sentimental and emotional theme, particularly the paternalistic tone with True Grit. Although Wayne saw his consecration in the genre in it thanks to a narrative of greater dramatic weight, it was not until 2010 when the Coen brothers suggested a better remake, better plotted and directed, extremely entertaining and with Bridges immersed in the role of the mercenary antihero. But the real star was a rising Hailee Steinfeld, with a PERFECT performance that earned her an Oscar nomination.
