Marvel has recruited a whole universe of actors for its new big event. Avengers: Doomsdaythe fifth installment of the superhero team, has recovered the performers who gave life to the mutants of the saga X-Men of 20th Century Fox in the 2000s. However, they have left out the actress who gave life to one of the most important characters in the franchise.
Hugh Jackman became a star with his role as Wolverinebut he already returned in Deadpool and Wolverine (2024). Who Marvel has not called is Famke Janssen, who gave life to Jean Grey in the movies X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003) y X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

“Every time I do an interview, I am mentioned,” he acknowledged in EW during an interview for his Netflix series Amsterdam Empire (2025). “It’s interesting, I didn’t realize it was such an important role. Every interview I do, that appears, and everything I say, that’s what’s going to appear in print.”
When the aforementioned media asked him if Marvel has asked him to return as Jean Grey, Janssen responded: “Never. Ever”. “I guess I should be flattered that this character connected with people,” she adds. “It’s been so long, but it’s nice that people are still talking about it. I’m sure every time a new movie comes out, like Doomsday?… the topic will come up again.”
Janssen is not the only one who has given life to Jean Gray on the big screen. Sophie Turner got into the skin of the character in the mutant prequel saga that began with X-Men: First Class (2011) and continued with X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).

The film, which hits theaters in the United States on December 18will have a sequel titled Avengers: Secret Warsalso with the Russo brothers as directors, which opens in North America on December 17, 2027. This film will be the reboot of the MCU.
