Here’s the trailer for Killer Whale, the return of killer whales to the screen
Starring Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson and Mitchell Hope, this film which is about to debut in streaming and digitally in the USA relaunches a great classic of aquatic obsessions. Here is the trailer for Killer Whale.
The story is quite well known. After the extraordinary success of The shark Of Spielberg (we talked about it here on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary), the unscrupulous Dino De Laurentiis he asked his trusted screenwriter Luciano Vincenzoni to find a fish “more terrible than the great white shark” for a film that aimed to match the success of that of the American. Since Vincenzoni he had a brother with a passion for zoology, he explained to him that in the oceans there is only one predator above the white shark, and that this predator is the killer whale (which as we all know is also a cetacean, and not a fish, but that’s okay).
It was born like this The killer whalewhich is also a funny film in its own way, if we leave aside for a moment a rather crucial issue: that orcas do not attack humans. In nature it has only been recorded once, in 1972, that an orca bit (non-lethally) a surfer, while cases of attacks on humans by orcas in captivity are a little more frequent, where however other factors come into play.
The fact is that orcas are enormous creatures, as fascinating as they are somehow frightening, and that in recent months – those of you who are more attentive to these issues will have known – there have been strange cases of orca attacks on boats, which in some cases caused them to sink. Even if whoever was on board wasn’t eaten.
In any case: all this just to say that, after the film produced by Of Lawrence and played by Richard Harris in 1977, killer whales are about to return to screens. Next January 16th in fact, a film with an unequivocal title will debut in theaters, on demand and in streaming, Killer Whaleof which you will find the t. belowofficial railer.
Directed by By Jo-Anne Brechinwho also co-wrote it with Katharine McPheethe film features protagonists Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson e Mitchell Hopeand tells the story of two inseparable college classmates who, one year after the death of the third musketeer, leave Australia for Thailand, where an orca that has long suffered terrible mistreatment in a water park, secretly freed, will sow panic and persecute them.
