Set in a convent in the remote Italian countryside, Immaculate tells of Ceciliaa young nun who survived drowning in a frozen lake and is convinced that she has been brought back to life by God. For this reason, once she has taken her vows, she dedicates herself to her mission on Earth and accepts Father Sal Tedeschi’s invitation to join a cloistered convent that hosts dying nuns. Once there, however, Cecilia notices that something is wrong, especially with the elderly people who populate the convent. She becomes friends with another young nun, Sister Gwen, but a shocking truth emerges shortly after her arrival: Sister Cecilia is pregnant. Her pregnancy is inexplicable, having never had intercourse in her life, and from that moment on she is considered by everyone to be the new Virgin Mary. Cecilia, however, is not convinced of what is happening and will soon realize that that convent hides numerous secrets.

The cast includes Sydney Sweeney who plays Sister Cecilia, the protagonist. The actress auditioned for this role in 2014, but had to wait ten years for it to materialize. In addition to starring, Sweeney is also involved in the horror project as a producer. Also joining her in this adventure on the big screen Benedetta Porcaroli who plays Sister Gwen.
