James Cameron Almost Directed ‘Wicked’ Adaptation
In a podcast interview The Town with Matt Belloni, James Cameron (‘Avatar’) revealed that he almost helmed an adaptation of the popular musical ‘Wicked‘.
The filmmaker declared himself a big fan of the universe of ‘The Magic of Oz‘.
“I like watching movies like ‘Dune’ or even ‘Wicked’. I almost directed an adaptation of ‘Wicked’. I really like the story; ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is one of my favorite movies. That was about 15 years ago.”
The director even met with the Universal Pictures to discuss adaptation, but states that “couldn’t find the song”which made him not move forward with the project. However, he does not rule out directing a musical film in the future.
It is worth remembering that ‘Wicked: Parte 2‘ is now showing in national cinemas.

The sequel also hits theaters in a dubbed version, with the voices of the actresses Myra Ruiz (Elphaba) and Fabi Bang (Glinda).
The film is directed by award-winning filmmaker Jobs Men and also features the participation of the Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey e Jeff Goldblumamong others in the cast.
