Messiah’ in the middle of the desert. “I didn’t have a single active brain cell.”

It had been a few months – three specifically – since we received the latest news about ‘Dune: Messiah’, and it wasn’t that it was too revealing. In fact, the latest update on the long-awaited closing of Denis Villeneuve’s galactic epic It had to do with Jason Momoa’s change of look, who had to get rid of his beloved beard to bring Duncan Idaho back to life.

The heat of the moment

Today is not like we bring a revelation that is going to make us fall off our chairs, but it is always a good time to talk about the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s work and, incidentally, about our beloved Robert Pattinson, who has spoken with IndieWire about his peculiar experience on the desert filming set of ‘Dune 3’.

Taking into account that the extreme temperatures turned each location into a kind of large-scale oven, one would expect that the physical and mental exhaustion would translate into little less than torture. Nothing could be further from the truth, because it seems that Good old Rob enjoyed the fact that his brain was almost turned off..

“It was actually a very nice thing. When I was doing Duneit was so hot in the desert that I simply couldn’t question anything. And it was very relaxing, like my brain wasn’t really working, I didn’t have a single active brain cell. I only listened to Denis (Villeneuve): ‘Whatever you say!’ The truth is that I found it relaxing. And now I’m applying that to other roles.”

As of today we don’t have many details about the character Pattinson will play, but expected to be Scytalea genetically modified being with the ability to imitate any human who is under the control of the Bene Tleilax, a xenophobic sect that practices genetic manipulation and trades in biological products. Everything very nice.

Be that as it may, we will have to wait a long time to see Robert Pattinson, Timothée Chalamet and the rest of the trilogy’s regulars on the big screen. Specifically up to a December 18, 2026 in which ‘Dune: Messiah’ will smash its face with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to take the Christmas box office ahead.
