Neither in a restaurant nor in the Generalitat: where was Mazón between 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on the day of the dana? | The COUNTRY Express

THE CONSEQUENCES OF DANA

Neither the calls, nor the travel records, nor the testimonies allow us to clarify where exactly the Valencian president Carlos Mazón was between 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on October 29, 2024, when the dana devastated dozens of towns in L’Horta Sud and caused 229 deaths, in the largest catastrophe of the century in Spain.

  • The ES Alert alert message reached mobile phones at 8:11 p.m., when most of the victims had already died.
  • Before, Mazón had had lunch at the El Ventorro restaurant, in Valencia, with the journalist Maribel Vilaplana.
  • The appointment, which began at 2:45 p.m., ended between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The Generalitat never denied that version and the invoice has not been made public.

From there, the chronology blurs. In part, it does so due to the different version changes.

  • Mazón maintains that he walked to the Palau de la Generalitat and that he worked there before going to the emergency center (Cecopi).
  • However, a witness claims that he arrived at his office shortly before 8:00 p.m. and left immediately.
  • The Valencian Government stated that Mazón arrived at Cecopi between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., but a recording shows his entry at 8:28 p.m.

And it can’t be verified? The images of the Palau were deleted fifteen days later and the routes of the official car have not been provided.

A telephone silence. Between 6:57 p.m. and 7:34 p.m., the president remained incommunicado, without making or receiving calls.

And not only that… Mazón maintained his institutional agenda on the day of the flood, despite having commissioned a report on the severity of the flood in a morning meeting.
