New films and series to watch on Netflix from January 23 to 29, 2026
Netflix releases a number of films and series into its catalog every week, without anyone noticing them or the platform officially announcing it. Écran Large looks back at the new features added by Netflix from January 23 to 29, 2026, films and series combined in a non-exhaustive list.
What are the films and series not to be missed this week on the streaming platform?
The Killer
- Already available
- Duration: 2h05
What is it about? After refusing to carry out a contract, a killer is hunted by her former collaborators. She then crosses paths with a tenacious cop, but must also confront her past.
Why should you watch it? Because it’s an absolute masterpiece of action cinema by John Woo and Chow Yun-fat is in it… Ah… We are told in the headset thatthis is in fact the American remake released in 2024 also titled The Killer. Good. Provided you have already seen the 1989 classic, you may be curious to discover this version led by Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy, supervised by the master himself. Especially since it takes place in the City of Lights, filmed as a tourist spot.
If you look carefully, you can even find some nice action scenes, notably a rather gruesome climax. But for that you have to ignore this artistic direction dictated by the Town Hall of the 4th arrondissement, these dialogues worthy of personal development Facebook pages and especially the transformation of the director’s own style effects into clumsy gimmicks. Well, we’re going to go back to the original instead, so, which is expected to be released on 4K Blu-ray in March 2026. Sorry Netflix.
Love phew
- Already available
- Duration: 2h40 (and that’s a lot)
What is it about? The chaotic and romantic love story between Jackie and Clotaire, who met in high school in the 80s, and reunited as adults.
Why should you see it? phew love didn’t appeal to everyone, to put it politely. Just in the Ecran Large team, there are those who found it artificial, interminable and indigestible, and the others the one who appreciated this touching brothel which overflows on all sides, to the point of excess. The third feature film directed by Gilles Lellouche (Narco, The Great Bath) overflows with an appetite for cinema that recalls Jean-Jacques Beinex of Diva, The Moon in the gutter et 37.2° in the morningfilms that are “too much” (characters too crazy, universes too colorful, emotions too exalted, effects too strong, and durations too long).
With Love phew, Gilles Lellouche wanted to make all the films: a romance film, a gangster film, a music filma tragic film, a comic film… It’s a lot (too much), so obviously it misses a few steps in this steamroller film. But there is also, above all, a package moments of gracewhether with the excellent Malik Frikah and Mallory Wanecquethe perfect Alain Chabat and Elodie Bouchez, or several powerful scenes (the telephone booth, the reunion at the hospital).
The Bridgerton Chronicles – season 4 part 1
- Available on 01/29
- Duration: 4 episodes of approximately 1 hour
What is it about? From Benedict (Luke Thompson), the family’s bohemian second son. If his older and younger brothers are married and happy, Benedict doesn’t want to settle down… until the day he meets a young woman at the masked ball organized by his mother.
Why should you see it? At the time of writing these lines, we are not yet allowed to reveal too much since we are still under embargo. But in truth, if you fell under the spell of the first seasons of The Bridgerton Chroniclesthere’s no reason why you shouldn’t fall in love with this season 4first part. In just four episodes (because yes, Netflix has again decided to cut season 2 in two), the series finds its characteristic atmosphere.
New scandals, new gossip, new secrets, new romances… in short, a perfect recipe for diving back into social evenings, all the more masked.
BUT ALSO…
