One of the most moving films of the year arrives in theaters from Netflix
Netflix has big bets for the next awards season with ‘Frankenstein’, ‘A House Full of Dynamite’ or ‘Jay Kelly’. However, this month it releases a title that, although it does not aspire to the praise that previous blockbusters guarantee, is also one of this year’s essential films. Based on the story of the same name by Denis Johnson published in 2011, ‘Train dreams‘has enchanted specialized critics with its emotional story of a humble day laborer in rural America in the 20th century.
Train dreams: cast and release date
Directed by Cliff Bentley, nominated last year for an Oscar for the screenplay of ‘The Lives of Sing Sing’, the film features the actors Joel Edgerton and Oscar nominee Felicity Jones and received excellent reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. Rotten Tomatoes has a rating of 97% for this simple story that encompasses issues such as love, grief or family while showing the transformations of the United States at the beginning of the century.
The Wrap has described it as “a Western epic of stunning visual splendor and formidable cinematic lyricism,” and Variety and The Guardian have praised Edgerton’s subtle performance. The film will be released on the big screen next November 7 and will be available on the platform from the 21st of the same month.
