Part 2 should hit US$400 million soon

After 10 days on display, the second part of Wicked added US$93 million to its domestic box office, remaining in second place in the American box office ranking, just behind Zootopia 2.

To date, the film has grossed US$270.4 million in the United States and an admirable US$393.3 million globally to date. The prediction is that the Wicked: Parte 2 exceed US$400 million in the next two days.

Directed by Jobs Men (Filthy Rich, In The Heights), Wicked e Wicked Parte 2 adapt the highly acclaimed musical for film with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and libretto by Winnie Holzman – which, in turn, is an adaptation of the book of the same name Gregory Maguire, a story that shows the life of Glinda, the good witch, and the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba Throbb, before Dorory’s arrival in the Kingdom of Oz.

In feature films, the two are played, respectively, by Ariana Grande e Cynthia Erivo. The two were nominated for an Oscar for the first film, which premiered in November 2024 and is now available for streaming.

The cast also has Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang e Bronwyn James.

In the plot, Elphaba and Glinda meet at school and, despite their differences, develop a powerful friendship that is challenged when the mysterious Wizard of Oz invites them both to the Emerald City and reveals the secrets of that kingdom.
