Receive call from beyond

Demian Bichir continues with the success of “Black Telephone 2”, by Scott Derrickson.

You run, but you can’t escape, an entity beyond what is human chases you to any corner where you try to hide, your heart races, your skin crawls, sweat runs down your forehead, your pupils dilate, that’s what a horror film like “Black Telephone 2”, in which Demian Bichir participates, does to viewers.

The feeling of fear is not only hidden from fiction, for a few years it has been part of daily life for the Latin community residing in the United States with a political and social context like the current one, with the immigration measures that the US government has imposed.

Even with this situation, the film industry of the neighboring country, says the Mexican actor, is increasingly looking for Latin talent for mega-productions such as “Telefono negro 2”, by Scott Derrickson.

“We can’t help but think about how the planet is, I have always said that terror should only exist in fiction, not out there, where it seems that the planet is collapsing, but there are more of us good people, the leaders who are committed to unity, the importance of family, love, generosity,” says Bichir.

The producer and director (A circus tale & a love song) also reflects that the world is populated mainly by good people.

SUPPORT MEXICANS

“This is how we Mexicans, Latinos and most human beings are, there are only a couple of fools out there who want to ruin the day, and precisely if this film is generating something it is that, it is giving us this reminder that united we are stronger,” he points out.

Armando, the character he plays in the film, is for him a clear example of what Mexicans and Latin Americans represent in the United States, brave people, who may have gone through personal hell, and yet choose to be generous, kind and hard-working.

Regarding his character in this production, he says that he clearly has a very Mexican spirit.

“Mando is this brave being, with determination against everything, that is what we Mexicans are, that is our essence, we have more to do with this phrase from the American anthem that says ‘the house of the brave’, that is the blood of all the people who leave their homes, they leave everything behind to conquer a better life for their families, that is bravery” he points out.

The plot begins exactly as described, in the hell of the characters, with broken people who little by little return to their path.

“The new generations are going to transform all this, there are more of us who are good, those who are committed to peace, justice, empathy, I have no doubt that we are going to achieve it, exactly as happens in history,” he says.
