RICHARD GERE | Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva leave Spain ahead of schedule and return to the US: “It was wonderful”
It was going to be several years, but finally Richard Gerehis wife, Alejandra Silvaand their sons, Alexander, 6, and James, 5, have ended their Spanish journey and have returned to their lives in the United States. As she revealed to Hello! magazine, “now we have returned here, but our family was in Spain for a year. And the most important thing I can say is that Alejandra was very happy thanks to her family, her friends, her culture, her city and her food… All those wonderful cultural things, so it was fabulous.”
It was in the fall of 2024 when the couple decided to leave the US to begin a new stage in the native country of the Galician businesswoman. “She was very generous in allowing me to live six years in my world, so it is only fair that I now dedicate at least another six years living in hers,” Gere acknowledged, implying that the family was settling in Spain for a long time.
But it has only been a few months that the ‘Pretty Woman’ actor’s family has lived in the Madrid neighborhood of La Moraleja.
However, and to the surprise of everyone and everyone, since it recently came to light that the couple had acquired a spectacular house valued at 10 million euros on Bastiagueiro Beach, in A Coruña – something that Alejandra denied in her last public appearance at the anniversary of ‘Open Arms’ in Barcelona -, which reinforced the theory that Spain had become her new home, Richard has announced his unexpected return to the United States.
“Back”
The actor confirmed this in New York, during the premiere – on October 16 – of the documentary about the Dalai Lama ‘Wisdom and Happiness’, of which he is executive producer: “In fact, we are already back here,” he declared.
During the year they lived in our country, the couple and their children lived in an impressive mansion in La Moraleja which Gere bought for an amount close to 3.5 million and which became his ‘headquarters’ during these months, in which, as the protagonist of ‘Officer and Gentleman’ said on more than one occasion, the meals with friends many Sundays in which they acted as hosts for more than 30 people.
It seemed that the family was fully integrated. In fact, when Gere was honored in February with the International Goya Award in Granada, he commented in his acceptance speech: “America no longer inspires us, it is a very dark place with a thug of a US president. It doesn’t just happen there, it is happening everywhere.”
