“Superman” drops in theaters July 11. Here’s a look at the superhero’s connections to Ohio, from the Hall of Justice (in Cincinnati) to his creators being from Cleveland.
A blockbuster movie, partially filmed in Cincinnati, has been named one of the best movies of the year.
“Superman,” which filmed scenes at the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Union Terminal and the Lytle Tunnel, ranked No. 8 on USA TODAY’s list of the best movies of 2025. The superhero flick also took the No. 1 spot on IMDb’s most popular movies of 2025 list, making it the most-viewed and most-searched title on the platform.
According to USA TODAY, the James Gunn-directed movie positively relaunched the DC universe. The 2025 adaptation features a “morally powerful Superman” who embodies a modern “kindness is punk rock vibe.”
The film also features a “timely tech-bro villain” in Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor and a “role model for good journalism” with Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.
“For too long we subsisted without a really good cinematic Man of Steel. Then David Corenswet came along,” USA TODAY writes.
“Superman” released in theaters on July 11 and is now available to stream on HBO Max, Apple TV, Amazon, and Fandango at Home.
