Chevrolet has attracted all truck enthusiasts with the concept of Silverado EV ZR2 all-terrain truck at Mint 400, one of the most demanding all-terrain races in North America. The electric truck will compete in the Open Production EV category within the Hall Racing team, controlled by Chad Hall.

“There is no better test field to test the limits of our vehicles than competition,” said Scott Bell, Vice-President of Chevrolet. “The concept of Silverado EV ZR2 racing truck, which uses 98 % GM production parts, highlights some of the best chevrolet elements to produce a pick-up capable of taking up the challenge of a racing of the Mint 400”.
The Silverado EV ZR2 concept has been designed to provide all-terrain capacities:
- Raised front and rear suspensions with all-terrain settings
- Multimatic amortization technology
- Blocking differentials
- Protection against slippages under the bodywork

Developed in just five months, the truck includes a prototype multimatic adaptive spool valve and semi-active shock absorbers, offering a travel of more than 15 cm on the front and rear wheels. It rolls on BF Goodrich km3 mud-terrain tires of 37 inch and is propelled by an electric propulsion system with three motors which delivers a power of 1,100 horsepower and a torque of 11,500 lb-ft.
Chevrolet engineers will work with Hall Racing to monitor the sustainability and performance of the race truck. The lessons learned from the Mint 400 will contribute to the development of future production models, including, we hope, a ZR2 version, all-terrain performance parts and accessories. Chevrolet currently offers more than 44 all-terrain pieces for its standard trucks.
“Working with Chevrolet engineers is still a good day in the office,” said Chad Hall, pilot and team leader of Hall Racing. “What we learn in the race is applied to vehicles that consumers can buy. An all-terrain race like the Mint 400 is equivalent to a whole life of vehicle wear.

Hall Racing has participated in competitions with Chevrolet since 2017, finishing 53 of the 54 races engaged with the Colorado ZR2.
The beginnings of the concept of Silverado EV ZR2 racing truck coincide with the upcoming launch of the Silverado EV Trail Boss 2026 from Chevrolet. The serial model, expected this summer, is equipped with an lift bridge installed in the factory, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires and a new field mode for better all-terrain maneuverability.
More information on the Silverado EV Trail Boss will be communicated soon.
